How this is worked out
- Each target role has a fixed list of skills that role commonly expects, authored ahead of time rather than pulled from a live job description.
- Only the skills you tick from the full list count toward the role you picked; ticking a skill the role does not need has no effect on the score.
- Coverage is simply how many of the role’s expected skills you ticked, divided by how many it expects in total.
What this does not cover
- The expected-skills lists are a reasonable general picture, not a copy of any one company’s job description.
- Depth is not measured. Ticking "SQL" counts the same whether you can write a basic SELECT or design a schema.
- Seniority is not factored in. A junior and a staff engineer in the same role see the same expected list.
- Nothing you tick is sent anywhere, this runs entirely in your browser.

- They are authored from common patterns across job descriptions for each role, not scraped or copied from a specific posting or company.
- My target role is not listed, what should I do?
- Pick the closest of the four roles and treat the missing list as a starting point rather than a complete one, since exact expectations vary by employer.
- Does having every skill mean I am ready for the role?
- It means you cover the breadth this checklist expects. Depth, experience, and how well you can talk about that skill in an interview all matter too.
- Can I check multiple roles?
