How this is worked out

The remote offer is divided by the cost-of-living factor you set, to bring it into your own city’s terms rather than the remote employer’s reference location.
That adjusted figure is then compared against your current salary as a straight ratio.
The factor is entirely your input. This tool does not assert a cost-of-living index for any city, because a wrong one is worse than none.

What this does not cover

If you plan to actually relocate to the remote employer’s reference location, set the factor to 1, since the adjustment only matters if you are staying where you are.
This ignores currency conversion risk if the offer is paid in a foreign currency and your expenses are in rupees.
It does not account for remote-specific costs, home office setup, a coworking membership, or time zone overlap requirements that might affect your schedule.
