How this is worked out
- Columns are tab-separated, which every major spreadsheet tool reads as separate cells the moment you paste it in.
- The second row is a filled example so the format is obvious at a glance; delete it before adding your own rows.
- The detailed option adds the columns worth tracking once you are managing more than a handful of applications at once, mainly interview stage and notes.
What this does not cover
- Nothing here is saved anywhere. Refreshing the page loses the template, so paste it into your spreadsheet immediately after generating it.
- This is deliberately not a hosted tracker with login and storage, in keeping with the rest of this site: no account, no database, nothing about your search kept on a server.
- It does not track anything automatically. You still update statuses and dates yourself as things move.

- Why not just store my applications on this site?
- Because that would mean an account, a database, and your job search history sitting on a server somewhere. A spreadsheet you own and control does the same job without that.
- Can I add my own columns later?
- Yes, it is a plain spreadsheet once pasted in. Add or remove columns freely; the template is only a starting structure.
- Which detail level should I use?
- Minimal if you are only tracking a handful of applications informally. Standard once you are following up regularly. Detailed once you are juggling multiple offers or interview stages at once and need the extra columns to keep it straight.
